Barban Travel Guide

Barban is a village (population 240; 229 meters above_ sea-level) on the road leading from Zminj to Vodnjan. It was first mentioned in the 8th century as the seat of the college parish and later as the feudal seat. It is well located in the valley of the river Rasa.

There are two citadels in this village: "Velika Nota", built in 1718, and "Mala No-ta" were built in 1720. An interesting sporting event having much in common with "Sinjska Alka" called "Trka na prstenac" takes place here every year.
