Merry Christmas!!! Amy says 16 years ago |
I just had a great Christmas here with my friends in Beijing. I am impressed with the new China and you can see the preparations for the Olympics here too. Their new stadium looks like a bird's nest. This is the new communism. Don't believe the negative things your friends might say about China. This is truly a great place and a place to have fun! |

Beijing is a good place to visit. You'll get to witness a seven thousand year old culture surviving into modern times. Most people don't think of it this way but wouldn't Ancient Egypt surviving to this day fascinate you? Well, that's what China is. Communism seems to have left China from what I saw. I went to visit the famous Tianamen Square where the first steps to Chinese peoples' rights were made (with great sacrifice) and the Forbidden City, where powerful emperors who wielded far more power than their western counterparts for millenia ruled the greatest civilization known to humankind. It was a bit sad because I think there's much erosion on the works in the Forbidden City from all the acid rain. Tiantan Park is also a must see. One can't forget to visit the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tombs as well. Also, the whole trip is quite inexpensive. |
First thing in the morning Samantha says 17 years ago |
As soon as the sun rises, the many of the old men shuffle out of houses to escape from the morning chaos from their apartments and in their hands are bird cages, which they swing backwards and forwards as they make their way to the nearest park. The birds are showcase pieces that often sing pretty well. |
