cold food and cold room

I had a reservation for eleven on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. When we arrived at the restaurant the front room was cold and breezy. The second room was divided by a big open doorway where they had three rows of booths that looked cozy, however we were seated at the end of the booths like an end-aisle display in a supermarket. It was very cold in the restaurant and some of us ate with our coats on. My mother-in-law ordered hot coffee with her dinner because she was cold. The place has an upstair dining area and I'm sure it was warmer there because heat rises but we were seated downstairs.We ordered ribs, burgers, pulled chicken and a couple other dishes. After a long wait for the food it was served COLD. My wife immediately sent her food , pulled chicken dinner,back because it was cold to the touch. Not one of the eleven dishes had even a hint of sizzle when they were served. When you are talking about barbeque you expect the food to be sizzling! One might think that the waittress was waiting for one dinner and the rest got cold but that would suggest that at least one dinner would be hot. But this was not the case as ALL the dinners were served COLD. While waiting for our food I walked around the restaurant which was quaint. The kitchen had an open area where you could see into it. When I looked in I saw NO smoke, no steam, no fire from a grill, no cooks yelling and working feverishly like you would expect from a normal kitchen, it was almost like they ordered out for our food... That would explain why it was cold. The meal which cost about two hundred dollars not including tip and no alcohol, was not exhorbitant in any stretch, but because the food was cold it was a two hundred dollar waste of time. Upon leaving I voiced my complaint to the manager who offered me a twenty five dollar gift card which I refused. I won't be eating in the Smokehouse again even if the meal was free.
Drive right past this place and find another place to eat unless of course you like eating cold food.

You know i was just going to write a review for The Center Street Smokehouse in Batavia ny untill i saw this other review that was posted and i just had to say something about it . Center Street is one of our all time fave BBQ joints and i dont care where you go for BBQ this place is the BOMB!!!! Its to bad this other guy and his group had such a COLD bad time . Sometimes a place can't do anything right for some groups. I guess that makes more room for the rest of us who love the place.The staff works hard to make sure you don't just enjoy the place but that you have a Great time . The food is fresh and it really is hot and lots of it. We always take food togo after your meals. Live band the last time we were in had a great time .So do go to this place it's the BEST. I can see why you would cover your face up i would be embarrassed to.
