No title - expert review Kitchen privileges are included with the accommodations at this hostel-like hotel one block from the Pike Place Market on a gritty stretch of Second Avenue. This facility is a bit grubby, and some of the front-desk staffers are terminally crabby, but the price is tough to beat. For $20 you can let a... fodors.com
No title - expert review If you remember that hostel you stayed in when you backpacked through Europe, you already know this place. Like most of its ilk, its in a great central location close to landmarks such as Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Hall, as well as Pioneer Square and Belltown. Give the poor Green Totoise a break - user review Even after reading your review I decided to stay at Green Tortoise. It is under $100 alright. It costs $22 a night, shared rooms, bath down the hall. It is a hostel not a hotel. It was clean and fun. Free hi speed internet, free breakfast and a really fun open mic social enening. I was very pleased for... fodors.com
No title - user review HORRIBLE HOSTEL. I hated everything about it. The beds were uncomfortable, the guests were trashy, and the staff was shockingly rude. They seemed like punks, druggies and thugs stupid and dumb jerks who know a couple of things about cheap theft. They hated me for being a handsome blonde man! I was t... hostelz.com
No title - user review I got there late and left as soon as I woke up, so no comment on the other guests. However, the room was terrible. The bed was comfortable enough but the room was boiling hot even in the middle of winter. There was also a steam radiator in the room (hence the heat) that bubbled and boiled all night m... hostelz.com
No title - user review I had a very mixed experience here. The hostel is in a great location, and some of staff members are extremely cool and friendly. They offer awesome free dinners and breakfast, and most of crowd there is very friendly and intelligent and hip. But two of the staff members are very rude and unfriendly... hostelz.com
No title - user review I stayed at the Green Tortoise in August of 2004. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed for three nights, and the price made it a lot easier on my wallet. The rooms and bathrooms were clean enough. They weren't spotless, but far from offensive. The neighborhood was just fine. It wasn't ... hostelz.com
No title - user review I wish I could give this place a better rating. The building is brand new and the location can't be beat. Perhaps because they are the only Hostel in Seattle is the reason why the desk staff is so unfriendly. If you don't like pot smoke or noise or drunken behavior, you'll hate this place. No title - user review It's possible that I was just weird enough to fit in, but I really liked this place. The communal meals were a great way to meet new people and having breakfasts and evening meals free was a big bonus. The staff and guests seemed friendly, the free internet was great and there was more than enough s... hostelz.com
No title - user review I've stayed here a few times and although at first glance it looks like it's in a bad area it is really only the surrounding block that should be treated with respect, especially at night. The hostel itself is a little ordinary however you can lock your suitcase/backpacks away in your own room. The ... hostelz.com
No title - user review Stay away!!! After my train arrived very late, I was stranded in Seattle overnight. I was low on cash so the staff at the train station pointed me toward this hostel. The neighborhood was seedy and scary. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. In the end I was put out on the street because, th... hostelz.com
No title - user review The Green Tortoise Hostel is in the heart of Seattle, about a four minute walk to the public market. The hostel itself was pretty clean, and staffed by decent people. The public Internet terminals were cool, although it'd be much more convenient to take advantage of their wireless connection with yo... hostelz.com
No title - user review The Green Tortoise is great. It's right across from the Pike Place Market (my room had a view of the market and the water) and walking distance to all the main attractions. There's free breakfast everyday (waffles, eggs) and free dinners three nights a week. The staff is super friendly and the rooms... hostelz.com
No title - user review The price could be a little lower for the level of accommodations, but it's either this or HI Seattle if you want to be anywhere near downtown. Pike Place Market is just a block or two away, which is very cool, but there's some sort of rehab clinic or something and a sex shop right down the street, ... hostelz.com
No title - user review This hostel was so much fun and lively. The people who were staying there permently were so friendly. We stayed there for a week and the community feel there was something we missed when we moved on to other hostles. No title - user review This is the worst hostel that I have ever stayed. The price is way too high for such a seedy neighborhood. The carpets were dirty and the beds were very uncomfortable. It was loud and so noisy that we didn't even get any sleep. The staff and manager were rude. Lots of druggies stay at this hostel. E... hostelz.com
No title - user review This place is a haven for down and out psuedo hippies and other loser types. The people at the desk were beyond rude. The smell of cigarettes and marijuana are overpowering, even in the rooms. I can't imagine any reason to stay here unless you were looking to score drugs. The only good thing about t... hostelz.com
No title - user review We stayed last weekend at the hostel, and we think it was awesome. The people who are staying there are very open and friendly and you can have a lot of fun.
