No title - expert review This inn was built in the 19th century for the Baron Xavier de Pontalba, and details such as exposed brick walls date back to its beginnings. Period furnishings and stone walkways throughout the garden courtyard further contribute to an old-time air that truly captures the essence of New Orleans. Al... gayot.com
Not A Bargain - user review This is the worst room I have ever had in NOLA. I took the "Virtural Tour" our room was nothing close to the tour. It was a tiny room with to much furniture both beds were broke and the mattresses were worn out years ago. The shower head was broke. No parking, no $1.99 breakfast, could not... neworleans.citysearch.com

Run Away! - user review We reserved two rooms at this place for four days in late March 2004. I won't go through the very long list of problems we encountered, but the low points were: tiny dirty rooms advertised as deluxe doubles, decrepit bathroom fixtures and tile, a toilet that clogged every time it was used, and profo... epinions.com

Very dissattisfied - user review I requested two double beds and was given a room with one queen bed. When I entered the room I realized that I actually had a twin sized day bed with an extra twin mattress underneath to sleep myself, my husband, and two children. The room was so small that we didn't have enough floor space to put t... expedia.com

Better places to stay - user review I would say that you should choose another hotel in the New Orleans Fine Hotels Group....such as the St. James. We had a much better time there, in a much nice room, with better service. The French Market Inn is in a great location though. Noisy at night as there is a bar downstairs. We never did fi... expedia.com

Great hotel and location for the money - user review Prior to staying at the FMI, I had stayed 4 other hotels in the French Quarter. This hotel by far was the best overall value. The court yards are cool and quiet. We spend a lot of time relaxing and visiting with other guest of the hotel. Our stay was during Jazz Fest and I felt the pricing was a bet... expedia.com
Convenient and centrally located are its only advantages. - user review Shower was very weak, sink remained clogged for 2.5 out of 3 days despite repeated requests, when maintenence came to fix the sink (while we were not there) they left the door to the room ajar, room cleaned but dirty towels left in room and no clean towels left behind. On positive side, the location... expedia.com
Great location, but dont expect much else - user review The best thing about this hotel is the location it's just a few blocks from Bourbon Street, so the whole Quarter is easily walkable. The hotel itself, at least the building we were in (there are several), was in serious need of an upgrade. As others have noted the AC doesn't even begin to cool the r... expedia.com
Good for the cheap and not too picky traveler. - user review The date of our stay was Oct. 6, 2006. This hotel is in a good location, and the decor is nice if you don't mind shabby chic. Make sure you get a room that's been renovated! My biggest complaints are 1. valet service was terrible and expensive at $20/nt while taking more than 20 minutes to get our c... expedia.com
Quaint - user review The French Market Inn is very close to the heart of the French Quarter, at Decatur and St. Louis. Bourbon St is 3 blocks up, but there are lots of attractions on Decatur and the blocks in between as well. This is an older hotel with character, not all the bells and whistles of the big chains but who... expedia.com

Cheaper for French Quarter; you get what you pay for - user review The location of this hotel on Decatur Street is very convenient for access to Jackson Square and the French Quarter, and is less expensive than other hotels on Royal or Bourbon Street. It is a small inn, with only a few rooms. The room was small, but comfortable enough, with adequate bed and pillows... expedia.com
OK place, if you dont mind... - user review The price was right, but just little things irritate, like: waiting 10 minutes for the shower to get hot water, the safe was either not working or too difficult for me (a math major) to figure out, and the third floor ice machine was not working. Otherwise the ambience was charming and the service w... expedia.com
Do not stay here... - user review The problem with this hotel is not the building, it's the staff. I was informed at check in that they had my reservation, just no room. The two gals working the front desk had a line of people out the front doors, but could not be bothered to be efficient or timely. After finally getting the room, w... expedia.com
Quaint - user review The room was done in such a manner to give the feeling of royalty with a touch of the modern (the flat panel TV mounted on the wall). The bathroom had the appearance of being new and all the pillows on the beds made my partner exclaim that we were g... expedia.com
Great Loation - user review This hotel had a great location. The walk from Bourbon St. was about 4 blocks south, so you can get drunk and wallk back with no problems. Great location - user review We loved staying at this hotel. The location was great for the French Quarter, and we even walked to the busline for the World War II museum. Decent, affordable hotel - user review We stayed at this hotel during one of New Orlean's busiest weekends, Jazz Fest, and were impressed. Overall, the room, recently renovated, was decently ... expedia.com
Location, Location, Location - user review We've been staying in New Orleans for years, & this was the perfect all around stay. Great location, beautiful courtyards, cool shops, bars & restaurants... Depends on your criteria - user review Would have to echo other reviewers on the rather chaotic feeling at the front desk during my check in. Also, my room was right on the side street and I could hear not only pedestrians but tugboats outside. Even loud music from cars vibrated the walls. However, quite charming antique ish fixtures in ... expedia.com

Historic French Market Hotel: French Market Inn - user review This is probably one of my favorite hotels in New Orleans, not because it is so luxurious but because it has so much character.
