Meadow Lake is a small town in northwest Saskatchewan that has experienced substantial growth in recent years. It is the hub of northwest Saskatchewan, serving many villages and communities of that region.[1]
The main attraction of Meadow Lake is the Meadow Lake Provincial Park, which is located northwest of Prince Albert National Park.[2] Meadow Lake Provincial Park is a parkland measuring 1,600 square kilometers. This strip of pine and birch forest surrounds a stream of rivers and a string of clear water lakes. [3] The park is similar to Prince Albert in that it is part of Saskatchewan’s transition from prairie terrain to northern wilderness. Visitors come to the park to view wildlife and enjoy the serene beauty of lakeside beaches. The lakes and rivers are popular for canoeing and fishing and the forests offer trails for hiking. In the winter, these trails are used for cross-country skiing. Other facilities include stables, tennis courts, campsites, and cabins for rent.[4]
