Oklaj is a county seat with a population of 485. The altitude is 230 m. It is situated near the Drnis-Sirotovci-Knin road. The area is rich in ores. Some 600,000 tons of phosphorus deposits have been discovered near Razvodje and 4.5 million tons of coal in the area of Modro Selo. Oklaj has its wine-cellar, local inn and small shop.
Wine growing is particularly developed in the region as well as production of fine wines such as "Debit" and "Promina". The territory of the county is historically very important. It was there that the Romans defeated the famous I Illyrian Queen Teuta and started their conquest of Dalmatia. During the recent war the village suffered severe damage.
