We will not return next year - user review This doesn't appear to be a family hotel as we saw no other families staying there. The towels, wash cloths and bed linens were extremely thin and worn out. Our non smoking room had a fairly strong smell of cigarette smoke. The maid service did not make our beds after the first night. I didn't check... expedia.com

Only real virtue is its proximity to great BBQ - user review Quite average and is a bit expensive for what you get. Parking is dangerous, as the spots are super-small and there are posts supporting the hotel in between each spot. There is a good BBQ... tripadvisor.com
not the greatest - user review Their pool was garbage, basically a cold water jacuzzi. Luckily Moonlight Beach is 2 blocks down the street and is probably my favorite beach in SoCal. It was a good deal, but we pr... tripadvisor.com
Not as bad as some of the reviews say... - user review This place is not as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe. Granted its not a posh 5* hotel, its a simple little beach hotel on coast highway. It could use a bit of updati... tripadvisor.com

Portofino Beach Inn (Encinitas, CA) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor A very differently styled hotel, warm staff and clean decent rooms made our stay at the Portofino Beach Inn a very memorable experience. For the price that we booked the room for, we would not receive an equivalent in value. Convenient location, cozy rooms, jacuzzi in room and a simple breakfast bas... tripadvisor.com
Portofino Beach Inn | Encinitas Nice Inn/Motel right on Hwy. 101 just north of Encinitas Blvd and walking distance to Moonlight Beach. The walk is about ten minutes but nice if you walk through the neighborhood behind the hotel. The rooms are decent but not fancy. They have a hot tub but no pool. It fills up in the summer due to i... yelp.com
Portofino Beach Inn in Encinitas, California Hotel - Expedia The first thing you notice is that the layout/configuration of the property is odd: It is on a long, thin lot stretching between Coast Highway and the next street to the west. There are two long, thin buildings running the length of the property, with a cement driveway/parking lot in between them. T... hotels.expedia.com
