Roc has a population of 180; it is an attractive village in the inland areas of Istria on the road from Buzet to Lupoglav, situated on a hillock and fortified by ramparts from the 15th century. This was once a Glagolit settlement, a fact on which we are reminded by numerous monuments on the 7 km long Roc-Hum road.
This dashing area has settlements of Rim, Lusic, Rujevci, Brnobici i Grabari on both sides of the "Aleja Glagoljasa", road, which symbolizes this great cultural epoch in which the first Croatian script, the Glagolitic script, was devised and used. Zakan Jury, the man who printed the "Misal kneza Novaka" (Prince Novak's missal) in 1483 was born here. The village has a hall of culture.
