Silba is an island and a settlement with a population of 220 in the Zadar archipelago with beautiful beaches and sandy coves. The parish church of the Lady of Karmen dating from 1637 is well-preserved. The pesent-day settlement developed in the 16th century. The remains of a citadel dating from the same period are located in the vicinity. The entire island is a protected park of nature on account of its wild-growing flora and fauna, including the wild rabbit, an endemic species of bat and the four striped python - the largest European snake.
