No title - expert review It seems as if every hotel in Santa Barbara is expensive, especially during the height of the summer season. You can save a bundle by staying away from the beach on the city's motel strip, along State Street far north of downtown. The independent Sandman Inn is handily located next to the AAA office... gayot.com
Good Santa Barbara bargain - user review As native Southern Californians, we've spent many short vacations in Santa Barbara, and have stayed at many of its popular hotels/motels in all price ranges. The pluses of the Sandman are first, its very nice location on upper State St. This part of town is much less congested than the well known do... expedia.com
Pros and Cons - user review The bed was very good and the location was very nice (charming garden approach and close to pool). Hotel was close to dining and shopping. However there was no bathtub in the room and the restaurant was not open due to renovation. Traveler's tip on local attractions.Hotel was a bit far from downtown... expedia.com
Great rooms and nice breakfast - user review The room was very clean and nice. The room has heat controls in it, as well as an iron, microwave, minifridge. Comfortable and not nearly as expensive as most of the accomadations in Santa Barbara. - user review The walls are thin (it is an older hotel) so there were some noise problems but the fan on the airconditioner provided loud enough noise to block out noise from neighbors. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Towels were scimpy. Shower was good. the shades do not block out the light from outside co... expedia.com
No title - user review I was seeking a 1 night stay in a hotel convenient to UCSB. This hotel met that expectation. I can't remember if it was a 2 or 3 star rated establishment, but which ever, it was a bit dated. Clean but old. I paid $119.00 for a Friday night stay in September. The price should have been $99.00. Plasti... mytravelguide.com
No title - user review I would recommend it for convenience and price only. The restaurant was a joke unless you love noisy bars which offer hamburgers, French fries, etc. as their cuisine. The breakfast wasn't bad. AC was so noisy we had to shut it off and the fan also made strange noises and we were afraid to use it so ... mytravelguide.com

OK for a stop over - user review The only thing I can really say about this hotel is that it was OK for a stopover. Complimentary breakfast was adequate (the booth seats could have done with a good clean). No real com... tripadvisor.com
Hated the Sandman - user review This 1950's motel is across town from State Street shopping/dining and the beach. It is a tired motel that needs refurbishing. Half the bathroom was remodled and clean but the shower w... tripadvisor.com
It's ok - user review This place is okay if you don't mind the motel-ish feeling. My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was ok. The only thing is it's not close to Downtown or anything. It really is motel-is... tripadvisor.com
Motel - passed, nothing great - user review This was your standard MOTEL. Paper thin sheets, coming off the bed, bad mattress, tight quarters, TINY bathroom - typical motel - busy cars, the pool area was pretty with bougenvelia... tripadvisor.com
Not that great - user review We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our month-long West coast tour. This is definitely a very over-priced, low quality motel. The walls are paper-thin (and the guy next door to us had... tripadvisor.com
